For the past seven years, proceeds have been donated to Alternatives in Motion, a nonprofit organization in Grand Rapids, MI that buys wheelchairs for those who cannot afford them. In celebration of the 10th anniversary for this event, the goal is to raise over $10,000 to donate to Alternatives in Motion. This 5K course features approximately 500 acres of meticulously groomed grounds of Grand Valley State University located in the heart of Ottawa County. The course begins near the Kirkhof Center and winds its way through the newly renovated campus with a trip over the "Little Mac" Bridge where runners will be surrounded by trees as they cross the stream far below. The race will conclude at the Cook-Carillon Tower in the center of campus with refreshments to follow in the newly remodeled Kirkhof Center. If you have never visited the Grand Valley State University campus or if you have not visited in the last five years, you are in for a treat.

The half marathon course traverses the ridges and woods encompassing Munising, passing waterfalls and streams, with dramatic views of Lake Superior. Mostly on paved county roads, cutting through the woods on a trails. The trails are varied and hilly. It's debatable which is more challenging- the 300' incline within the first 1/4 mile or the 328' decline near the end of the race. A fun race in a beautiful place. A benefit for Harbor House domestic violence shelter.

To prepare for mission trips each year, the students work over 2000 hours during the school year collecting, sorting and cleaning glasses donated by Lions Clubs, eye doctors and other groups from around the United States.
