A portion of the race fee will benefit Recreation Deeds for Special Needs Scholarship Fund. The course is a combination of paved road and dirt trails through the park. Great event for all abilities. Family and Friends who do not wish to run are invited to walk the park course and support Recreation Deeds for Special Needs with a walk day donation. Walk is wheelchair accessible. Shirts will be available on a first come first serve basis. Fun activities for the whole family will take place as Recreation Deeds for Special Needs hosts a Quarter Carnival and Raffle. Our goal is to raise enough money this day to send 20 youth to summer camps as well as assist with scholarship to other Recreation opportunities offered through the Department of Recreation and Parks. |

Organizer Kevin Spradlin says the Mountain Maryland Marathon on April 19 will feature a 1,900-foot gain in elevation from Cumberland to Frostburg along Alternate U.S. 40, also known as the Historic National Road. Spradlin says the grade is so gradual that runners will barely notice they№re going uphill. The return trip will put runners on the Maryland section of the Great Allegheny Passage. The trail is made of hard-packed gravel and carries bicycle riders from near Pittsburgh to Cumberland. |

This course is exactly what the title describes, a boardwalk run. This course runs the entire length of Ocean City’s famous family boardwalk. Starting at the inlet, circling around the carnival pier, then straight down the boardwalk with the ocean sunrise on the right. Once at the end of the boards at 28th street, runners will turn around and head straight back with the Ocean sunrise on the left to the finish. What better way to start off a fun filled weekend morning at the beach! Race limit is set at 750 runners. |
| 06/21/2009 Assateague Assault Triathlon Assateague Island Maryland http://www.octrirunning.com/event/assateague The Assateague Assault is a sprint distance triathlon to help support the Greater Ocean City Chapter of the United States Lifesaving Association along with the FOASP (Friends of Assateague State Park). It will consist of a Ѕ mile ocean water swim, 14 mile road bike, and a 3.2 mile run. The swim portion of the race will be a straight point to point, starting at either the north or south end of Assateague Beach pending on which way the current is running, and heading down current back to the State Park area. From the beach athletes will head to transition which will be set up in the overflow parking lot of the State Park facilities. From here they will mount bikes and head straight out across Verrazono Bridge, down Rt. 611 to a designated turn around area and back to transition to dismount and start the last leg of the race. The run leg will stay on Assateague Island for 3.2 miles of fast, flat running! Then on to the Finish chute back at the transition area. This is a long awaited event that has been requested by many triathletes in the area and now we are extremely excited to announce the first Assateague Assault Sprint Triathlon. |

Camp Letts Turkey Chase is a Thanksgiving morning tradition for many families! The 10K timed race crosses from Camp Letts onto SERC property with a short stint on Muddy Creek Road, the 5k fun run/walk is entirely on Camp Letts property. With door prizes, giveaways, balloon animals, pony rides and a mascot race, Turkey Chase is fun for all ages.
