Join runners from across the midwest on a tour of Lawrence. Runners will be treated to a downtown start and will travel through several historic sections of Lawrence. Three races offered in 2009 are: Half Marathon 10K 5K The USATF certified Half Marathon course offers a little bit of everything...just like Lawrence! Proceeds from the Kansas Marathon will benefit Health Care Access a not-for-profit clinic that serves 1,800 low-income clients and others in the Lawrence Community. The clinic is ran by KU Medical Students. It serves those who cannot afford health care. It costs twenty-five dollars to register. Please run with us May 2nd to help those who are in need.

A Chance for Children will benefit our community's youngest members, who live daily with the life-changing effects of cancer or serious illnesses requiring intensive care. The C6 program will help not only the patients, but their loved ones, to cope with the child's illness.

This event is open to people of all ages and abilities. With more than 320,000 people in Kansas City living with diabetes, this is everyone's fight. Refreshments and live music to be part of the event.

The Dash for Diabetes is a fundraising event and all funds are donated to the KC Free Health Clinic. Run the 5k and enjoy the free health clinic hosted by UMKC and KCUMB. And fun prizes for the winners!
10/31/09 Cleveland Chiropractic College Halloween 5k Fun Run/Walk 3.1 miles Roe Park Kansas Katie Decker www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1798589 ccckcsaca@aol.com We will be holding a 5K Fun Run/Walk to raise money for four important causes. The first one is Oklahaven, a hospital which helps sick and disabled children back to health through chiropractic care. The second is The Foundation for Chiropractic Progress. This is an organization that does advertising for the Chiropractic profession. They have gotten spokes people such as Jerry Rice and General Becky Halstead to speak about the benefits of Chiropractic. Proceeds will also go to the Political Action Committee. This organization raises money to give Senators and Congressman to continue to fight for the Chiropractic profession to be recognized and respected in the medical field. The last portion will help fund a trip for our students at Cleveland to attend our National Chiropractic Legislative Conference next February in Washington D.C.. At this conference we go lobby on Capitol Hill with Doctors of Chiropractic to fight for our profession to continue to be part of the medi cal model. We also help fight for bills to be passed that will better the health of our patients through Chiropractic care. The race will occur at Roe Park on October 31, at 8a.m.. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. and will end at 7:45 a.m..It costs 25 dollars per person. We have a special price for 2 members of a family the cost is then 35 dollars. So if a family of four would like to run it will cost 70 dollars. Children under 12 are free! We will have a prize for the best Halloween Costume, so we encourage people to come dressed in their Halloween Costumes and bring their kids! We have received great donations from Standard Process and Biofreeze to help contribute to the race bags the Participants will receive. There will be fruit available for the participants’ pre-race and food available post-race, as well as candy for the kiddos! Please come out and join us Hallween Morning!

If you do not register for CFC you can still shop but if you want to sell items it will cost $5. Either way, please provide a list and descriptions of the items you plan to sell. Technical jersey (deadline to order is February 19). Yahtzee Run. Each player will pay $5 to play 1 scorecard (maximum of 2 scorecards per rider). RULES: Roll 5 dice three times at the Middle School before Mass Starts. First roll will function as a possible tie-breaker. Each player will roll 5 dice twice at the mid-point in route and twice at the end. Score card will be validated at each location. Score cards that have not be validated will not count. Highest score wins. Winner will be awarded 50% of income paid out to them as a prize. Nutrition info booth. Karen Hanson, a Certified Health and Fitness Specialist (ACSM Certified) at Hy-Vee will offer literature and information on 'loading' before an athletic endeavor, and will provide chocolate milk for the returning riders. According to Karen, tests show that chocolate is one of the best foods for 'refueling' after exercise. Check back for potential snacks that Karen might have available.
