| 3/5/2011 Run on Water 4.5 miles Bayfield WI Scott Armstrong 715-779-5408 http://bayfield.org/festivals_events_run_water.php bayfieldreccntr@centurytel.net The 18th annual "Run on Water" is a family fun event open to people of all ages and skill levels. Participants can choose to run, walk, ski, snowshoe, skate or even skijor the 4.5-mile course on the famous "ice road" across frozen Lake Superior from Bayfield to Madeline Island and back. The race will start on the Bayfield side. Participants must go around a stake on the Madeline Island side about 2.2 miles away, then return to the start. Participants can choose their own course to turn the stake - on the ice road, off the ice road, straight or curving. All entrants will be started and timed together. Registration is $15 and can be done online at www.midwestevents.com or at the Bayfield pavilion starting at 10:00 am. The race begins at 11:00 am. Snowshoe and ski rentals available. Please note - if there is no ice road this event will be CANCELLED. Teams of six or more must register by March 2. Individuals may register the day of the event beginning at 9 a.m. The registration fee is $15 for those registering in advance or $20 the day of the event. Team registration is $20 per member. Short sleeve T-shirts are guaranteed for individuals registered by February 25. Team members will receive a long sleeve T-Shirt with their team's name on the back. University Recreation & Sport Facilities hosts the annual event, with all proceeds going to the Wisconsin Youth Success Program, a five-week summer sports camp for youth aged 10 to 16 from economically disadvantaged families. The program teaches sports skills and competition, and helps educate participants in the areas of math and science, health and nutrition, careers and the importance of education. |

Open to years 7+ of all skill levels (ages 7-10 must be accompanied by a registered adult and are restricted to the one mile route). Awards will be given to the top three female and male runners in each category. Along with all the big muddy fun, runners get a long-sleeved shirt, a backpack with an Oktoberfest button and other goodies. You will have the opportunity to support the new dinosaur exhibit at the Children’s Museum of La Crosse AND a turn to toss the MudRun Dice for a chance to win $25,000! Register early! There will be a maximum of 250 participants and the first 50 registrants will each get VIP parking and a “front of the pack” start! Unique to our community, The Amazing Turkey Trot is a two person (team) Run/Jog/Walk/Trot race over an approximate 6 mile course with "events" along the way. "Events" will be hosted by benefiting charities and will help improve your time, win prizes, and offer additional support for the specific organization hosting the event.
