04/04/2009 Legs for Lacher & Lacher's Walkers 5k Benefit Marathon 5k Bucksport Maine Kristin McDermott 207-469-3801 kristinit@myfairpoint.net Saturday, April 4th at Bucksport High School Registration 8am, start 9am, awards thereafter. The 5K (3.1 mile) event, Legs for Lacher (runners) & Lacher’s Walkers (walkers), is an event not to be missed! Legs for Lacher will be a timed event, with prizes awarded to top finishers. General prize drawings will be held for all participants, and grand prizes for top fund raisers will also be awarded after the race. The tax-deductible entrance fees ($10 adults, $8 students) and pledge donations collected by participants will go right to Andy. Registration forms and sponsor sheets are available at BookStacks and other area businesses, or they can be printed from sub5.com online. To pre-register, completed forms can be dropped off at BookStacks, or mailed to Kristin McDermott, 4 Cedar Street , Bucksport , ME 04416 . You may also register on race day. Hurry! The first 50 participants will receive a free nylon drawstring bag. (Everyone can order a bag or T-shirt on race day.) Spaghetti supper (also a benefit event) the night before at Duffy’s Restaurant in Orland. Look forward to food, massages, and other treats after the race! If you have not heard, Andy Lacher,owner of BookStacks in downtown Bucksport, fell Christmas Eve, ripping four tendons in his knee and crushing his ankle. He is making a gradual recovery, and hopes to be allowed to bend his knee soon. The community has come together with fundraising events to help cover Andy’s uninsured medical expenses, to help give back to him for all he gives to the community.
