For 13 years the proceeds from this race have been donated to Alternatives in Motion, a nonprofit organization in Grand Rapids MI with the mission of providing wheelchairs and other medical equipment to individuals who do not qualify for other assistance, and who could not obtain such equipment without financial aid. To date this race has contributed over $60,000 to Alternatives in Motion (https://www.facebook.com/alternativesinmotion). After triumphantly crossing the finish line of this 5K race, reward yourself with a delicious piece of pie (or another of our great post-race refreshments). The course is flat and fast, making it a great 'tune-up' for the River Bank Run. All pre-registered runners will receive a t-shirt. All proceeds benefit Zion Christian School's Mountaineer Athletic Boosters. Family and friends of participants are also welcome to enjoy a piece of pie; however, we ask that non-participants consider making a cash donation if they eat any of the pie or other race refreshments. This event is clothing-optional. However, many of the participants and spectators will not be wearing clothes. Your privacy is important to us. No cameras/video recorders or other photographic devices will be permitted! This is a low key event. It is similar to running a race in a residential neighborhood where there are only a few spectators, only the spectators will most likely not be wearing clothes. The entry fee enables you to use the resort facilities for the day; including the beach, indoor pool, tennis courts, miniature golf, etc. Stick around after the race and participate in an indoor pool volleyball game or miniature golf tournament. |

Each triathlete will swim, bike, and run to complete the competition and no experience is necessary. This is a fantastic opportunity for children to participate in an enjoyable, low-key athletic event that emphasizes health, self-esteem, self-confidence, and fun in a safe, family friendly environment ' the emphasis is on completion, not on competition. Kids will begin the triathlon in waves by age group in the indoor pool, they will bike along the Crosstown Trail, and run along a course set up on the Howell Public School property. The courses and distances were created to be achievable for all athletes. This event is professionally timed and transition areas are set up just like professional triathlons. While we recognize the 1st-3rd place finishers in each age and gender category with a medal, more than 200 finishers will walk away with a ribbon around their neck and a huge sense of accomplishment.
