Funds will help pay for therapy to help him walk again. He is currently in Carlsbad, CA. at Project Walk where is working very hard to regain movement in his lower body. When he arrived there in Sept 06, he could barely move his feet. He is now walking with crutches. Insurance does not pay for the $1000/week therapy. His family and friends have organized this race to help with expenses.

Gilkerson Community Activities Center Virginia Erik Dart or Tim Moubray 540-433-2474 5404339169 erikd@ci.harrisonburg.va.us The Harrisonburg Parks and Recreation is holding it's 5th Annual Race to Beat Breast Cancer 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run on October 13, 2007, with events beginning at 9:00 a.m.. The event will begin and end at the Cecil F. Gilkerson Community Activities Center in Harrisonburg, VA. All proceeds from this event will benefit Rockingham Memorial Hospital Breast Cancer Treatment. T-shirts will be provided for the first 250 pre-registered. Refreshments will be provided before and after the event. There will be a raffle/door prize drawing following the race for all those participants. Race plaques will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each age division. Early registration ends on October 5th, with a fee of $15. Late and race-day registration will be $20. There is a $10 per person discount for special groups/teams, i.e. clubs, sports, fraternities, sororities, etc. (minimum of 5 per team). The race will start on Brambleton Ave, turning left on Pleasant Hill, and up and around Titan Trail. You can register online or come directly to the LifeWise Pavilion located at 4633 Brambleton Ave. in Roanoke to fill out a registration form. A Nordictrack treadmill is being given away as the grand prize for the winner of the race (times will be adjusted for gender and age). The 9th running of the Greasy-Gooney 10K will take place at 9:00 AM on Saturday 27 October 2007 in Browntown, about eight miles south of Front Royal. Held at the peak of the fall foliage season, our somewhat challenging 6.2 mile road race loops through the foothills of the Blue Ridge, treating runners to gorgeous views of the mountains and countryside. Runners of all abilities are welcome to participate! You needn't run the race competitively, but we will have awards for the top three overall and for the top three in mostly five-year age groups. Entry fees are $12 by 10/10 and $15 thereafter (including race day), with a $4 discount if you don't want a race t-shirt and a $1 discount for members of the Shenandoah Valley Runners.
