Where: The campus of Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community and around Eastern Mennonite University.

The Wellness Center at VMRC will be hosting a 5K run/walk Saturday, September, 22nd at 9 am. Our event will kick-off the ICAA’s Active Aging Week. We seek to promote and encourage lifelong wellness throughout the Valley, as well as within our community at VMRC. The VMRC Wellness center is committed to the prevention, education, and management of Chronic Diseases. Proceeds from the 5K will go towards the educational programming of these classes. Your generous donation will also help in funding the expansion of our health related programming to benefit both the residents as well as the community.

The course for 2012 will be changed slightly due to construction on the campus of VMRC.

T-shirt deadline is 7 p.m. August 31, 2012.
All participants are invited to use the Wellness Center at VMRC on race day free of charge. Take a dip in our pool, soak in the hot tub or if you have some leftover energy, try out some of our strength training equipment.

Packet Pickup
Packets will be available at the Wellness Center at VMRC Friday, September 21st from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and race morning from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.

Post Race Celebrations
After crossing the finish line, all participants are invited to enjoy the complimentary food and drinks at the post race celebration. Don’t forget to stop by the Wellness Center at VMRC for a tour or to try our facility.

Awards
An awards ceremony begins at 10:15 a.m. Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in the competitive runner category, in addition to numerous drawings for prizes during the ceremony for non-competitive participants.

Entry Fee
Minimum donation of $20 per person through August 31, 2012. Fees are nonrefundable.
Starting September 1, entry fee increases to $25 per person.

Entry forms must be mailed by September 7 or dropped off at the VMRC Wellness Center by Friday, September 21. Registration will take place from 7:30-8:30 in front of VMRC on race day.

Race Policies
Pets must be on a leash. No roller blades please. You may bring strollers. Wheelchairs welcome.

Every participant must sign this waiver Runner’s Agreement, Waiver, Release and Acknowledgement

I know that running/walking a road race is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter and run unless I am medically able and properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to my ability to safely complete the run. I assume all risks associated with this event including, but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, traffic and the conditions of the road, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of you accepting my entry, I for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release the VMRC Wellness Center from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use any photographs, motion pictures, recordings, or any other record of this event for legitimate purpose.
