The Ride is in its twelfth year and will follow the traditional route from the Winter Gate, 4 miles east of Aspen, to the Independence Ghost Town approximately 10 miles up Highway 82 on Independence Pass. The Ride gains approximately 2000 feet of elevation, from 8,500’ to 10,500’, over the ten mile route. Highway 82 is a seasonal road which opens for the summer travel season on the Friday before Memorial Day. The Ride for the Pass is traditionally held the Saturday prior to the road-opening Friday to give racers and riders the opportunity to ride this stunningly scenic route while it is free of motorized vehicles. There are aid stations and turnaround sites at various points along the route in case of accidents, illness or breakdown. The Ride is followed by a party in Aspen featuring free beer and many Bib prizes, including a new mountain bike giveaway. The Ride will follow its usual format of a Race start at 9:00 AM and a Family/Recreational start at 9:15 AM |

It’s time for the 14th annual El Grito 5K run and walk (3.1 miles) scheduled Sunday, September 16, 2007 with a 9:00 a.m. start at the Historic Buckhorn Exchange Restaurant (Denver’s first restaurant) at 10th & Osage Light Rail Stop. The money obtained from the race entries goes to El Grito Runners, Inc. 501c3 Scholarship Fund. Scholarships are awarded to high school graduating seniors who have participated in cross country/track and are continuing their post-secondary education. This is one of the true community runs of days of old. The race is organized by a group of runners (no event company or club) who wanted to organize a race with all the amenities runners want such as good food, cool music, unique 5 year age group awards and, of course, a fantastic award winning long sleeve tech-shirt. Our race course is now certified in this 14th year! Come out and enjoy the challenge of the 8th Avenue Bridge (out and back)! Watch the front runners come to an exciting finish approximately 16 minutes after the start! The post-race fiesta includes mouthwatering breakfast burritos, Tarahumara inspired t-shirts, and unique tile awards, as well as hot Latin tunes! The 2007 Colorado Relay will run on September 21-22, 2007. Registration is open for the 2007 event. Participants are casual runners, serious runners and sometimes even professionals, but most often are somewhere in between. The majority of teams have 10 runners and 2 volunteers (plus other support staff) who make their way from Idaho Springs Colorado to Glenwood Springs, Colorado with each team member running three "legs" of the relay (each averages ~6 miles).
