I own a yarn shop in Nisswa and we are having our second Knit-In For The Cure on June 26-27 from noon-noon. We knit and crochet chemo caps for Susan G. Komen, Brainerd Lakes Chapter. We also have a silent auction with all proceeds going to Susan G. Komen and the fight against breast cancer. This year a group of local merchants has decided to expand our For The Cure event into a weekend deal. This will include a Sock Hop For The Cure on Saturday, June 27 from 6-10. We will have Music General DJ or if our sponsorship comes through this week, we will have the White Sidewalls. We will be recognizing cancer survivors and those with cancer now during the dance. We will also have Cruisin' For The Cure, classic car show on Sunday, June 28 from 11-3. The weekend will end with the cars Cruisin' The Strip down Main Street to show of their cars . This is all not for profit with all proceeds going to Susan G. Komen. We are asking a suggested donation of $10 per car toward Susan G. Komen. There will be three trophies awarded for Popular Votes of Men's Choice, Women's Choice and Kid's Choice. We are hoping to have a fun week that we can expand for years to come and help raise money and awareness of a cancer that affects both women and men. We hope that you can join us.
