The “Run/Walk” has traditionally been the most important fundraiser for the school district’s band program, which relies heavily on community and parental involvement. “Our band is successful because of the people who help support us, “ says Alamo Heights Band Association President David Miracle. “We have an incredible network of volunteers who donate their time, money and muscle power to a school music program our district can be very proud of.” The event also gives area residents a chance to enjoy live entertainment from the High School and Junior School band students along the scenic race route. The students will motivate race participants ranging in age from eleven years old and under to seventy years old and up. The top three finishers in each category will receive medals. Area businesses and other supporters will help provide door prizes and refreshments during and after the race. The race will begin at 8:30 am on March 5 at the Alamo Heights High School campus located at 6900 Broadway. Pre-registration will begin at 6:45 that morning and end at 8:00 am before the race. This scholarship is presented each year to one Paul Pewitt High School senior male athlete that exhibits the qualities that former Pewitt coach Doug Sibley would have looked for and expected from his athletes. These qualities include hard work, dedication, desire, leadership, and a never quit attitude. Several former scholarship recipients have been able to further their education beyond high school with the help of the Doug Sibley Memorial Scholarship. Coach Doug Sibley and his family moved to Omaha, Texas and began coaching at Paul Pewitt High School in the fall of 1980. He was the Defensive Coordinator for the varsity football team, the assistant varsity basketball coach, and the head high school track and field coach. Though Coach Sibley loved coaching, his true passion was being in the classroom and teaching. Coach Sibley taught American History, Sociology, and Drivers Education. He truly loved seeing his students learn and succeed. Sibley held this position for 22 years at Pewitt High School until he passed away on December 11, 2001 after suffering a severe stroke. The race is 10K and it is unique to the world of adventure racing. This is definitely not something you could set up in your backyard. Fees $40-$75 All participants are asked to set up a participants donation page. Friends, family and co-workers can support your effort & raise some much needed cash for our charitable partners. We can't conduct the race w/out their volunteer help & they can't do the great work they do without ours. 100% of all pledged funds go directly to the charity. What is DGAP? DGAP stands for Division for Generally Athletic People or Don't Give A Poop (about my placement). It is the FUN RUN division. There are no requirements for attire, gender or team size. IT IS AN INDIVIDUAL ENTRY! There's NO TEAM OPTION DURING REGISTRATION but you can form as a team at the race in any way you want! Again you can wear anything, run as fast or slow as you want, wear tennis shoes, wear shorts, wear costumes, run as a team of any size, have fun, stop and play, anything you want.

Online race registration is now available for $20 per adult and $15 for kids 12 and under. Registration on April 16 will be available beginning at 8 am for an increased fee. The NEW location at Mackenzie Park will allow us to host a variety of family friendly activities from 8 am - 9 am before the beginning of race. Both walkers and runners are encouraged to participate.
