Included in the $15 registration fee is a tshirt, breakfast compliments of Panera Bread Company and The Upper Crust, and of course, a substantial donation to Columbia Second Chance. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is the largest Christian sports organization in America, with their focus on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ. The Oak Grove branch currently focuses on the youth, grades 6 to 8, and are in the process of extending that to the high school level. They strive to instill teamwork, leadership, faith and values in our local youth by hosting breakfast meetings, fun activities and providing assistance to children who are financially burdened to attend summer camps, workshops and retreats.

The course is beautiful, but hilly. The 1.2 mile walk is on city streets. The tot trot is a couple of blocks in length. Overall winners of the 5K win $100 savings bonds. Medals are given three deep in 6 age groups for men and women. There is a door prize drawing after the race where approximately $500 in prizes are given away. La Plata is a small town with a friendly atmosphere.

Entry fee is $10 without a shirt and $18 with a shirt. 1/2 mile fun run is $5 without a shirt and $13 with a shirt. All proceeds go towards the building of 12' x 20' homes in Reynosa, Mexico. We are also asking that you bring any used running shirts and/or shoes to be donated to 2 organizations that Summit is associated with in Reynosa, Mexico and Zacapa, Guatemala. The course is USATF certified and is fairly flat. Course record for the men is 17:46 and 23:39 for the women. Finisher ribbons to all participants and unique age group awards three deep in both men and women. Lots of pre and post race food; as well as, a lot of door prizes and raffle drawings.

10/20/07 Bob Tompkins Memorial 5k Run/Walk 5k Jennies Softball Complex DD HWY Warrensburg, MO Missouri Dr. Stephen Burns 660-543-8894 Dr. Bob Tompkins was a professor at the University of Central Missouri for 33 years. He taught in the Department of Physical Education, was a UCM Alumni and a UCM coach. Dr. Tompkins stayed active by running five miles daily. He passed away in 1996 at the young age of 55 due to a Brain Tumor. Please join us in honoring the memory of Dr. Bob Tompkins.
10/27/07 Sport Management Scholarship Fund 5K Walk/Run 5K Cape Girardeau County Park South Missouri hnmills1s@semo.edu This will be the 3rd year for the Sport Management Fund 5K Walk/Run. The race is put on by the SM-360 class. Each year the class collectively organizes, advertises, and manages the race. All the proceeds from the race will go towards the development of a scholarship designated solely for Sport Management majors. The age divisions for the race are: 14 and under, 15-25, 26-39, 40-56, and 56 and over. Awards will be given to the top 3 finishers in each division for both males and females. Registration on race-day will be from 8:45 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Online registration is available on http://www.active.com A search for Cape Girardeau will show the race information.
