Yes, the CHRISTIANNE, one of the faster, more comfortable, safe and most
looked at boat which has ever circled the earth is for sale. Why do I
want to sell? I really don't want to but Elizabeth says enough long
distance cruising! I don't see why she should say this with only a dozen
trips to Bermuda, lots of trips up and down the East Coast, several to
Puerto Rico and the Bahamas, three Trans-Atlantics and a complete
circumnavigation, how can she possibly have her fill? She is right
however, I have sailed it solo on several ocean passages but that too is
losing its shine and I have many other things to do so the time is here.
Below is a short description but can't tell the whole story. Contact me
for complete info and tour. The cost is less than one half replacement
value so don't haggle me and no brokers please. I am looking to sell a
super boat to a nice person that can sail her. She will take you
anywhere you wish to go.
A rare find! Only a limited number of these boats were made in France
and very few imported into the US. . This is the largest of Jeanneau's
Ocean Racing Series and while this boat has not been raced, sister ships
have achieved an impressive racing record in Europe. She was purchased
new for the purpose of long distance cruising in a fast, safe manner.
Her speed allowed me to sail her in a comfortable, conservative style
and still make better speed than most other boats. She can easily be
sailed by two people and I have single handed on many ocean passages.
Several 240 mile days have been recorded. Distance measured was not via
the knot log or interpolated from a few hours of sailing, but real
world, GPS point to point 24 hour sailing which means the distance was
probably greater. This was not done with a full crew and spinnaker but a
comfortable sail with a crew of two people and a poled out Genoa. This
is the owners version with a large stateroom forward with en suite head,
desk/dressing table with a revolving chair and hanging locker. The
saloon is large and bright using Canadian Maple and Brazilian Moabi
wood. A fixed dining table can seat 10, refrigerator and ice box 4
burner Force Ten propane stove and oven, large Nav station with storage
and instrument panel. Two deep SS sinks with hot and cold pressure
water, a saltwater tap and filtered drinking water tap. All this plus
granite counter tops, leather trim make it a posh , fast cruising yacht.
Two double quarter berths and an aft head complete the picture. All
staterooms have room lights, accent and reading lights, fans, hanging
lockers and drawer storage. There is a separate, watertight anchor
locker, with a Tigress Windless and behind that a very large sail locker
which is used as crew berths in some yachts. This has a watertight
bulkhead about 1/3 of the way up and will keep the hull from flooding if
the bow is breached. Numerous handhold's and hand rails running the
length of the cabi
n make it safe in a rough seaway. A Yanmar 72 hp engine provides ve
The boat was designed along the lines of the BOC challenge 60ft long
distance racers. She is pure function with rod rigging, three swept back
spreaders allowing tight sheeting angles without running back stays. The
deck is kept clean with retractable cleats, running rigging hidden under
the deck, and the anchor windless recessed into the anchor locker. It
has two forward furling systems, the Genoa and slightly further aft the
staysail, which breaks up the sail area allowing for easy reefing. The
furling drums are recessed maintaining ultra clean lines. The staysail
can have a large overlap and trimmed tightly which is the same system
used on the IACC yachts. The main has full battens, rides on Harken
Battcars and with lazy jacks easy to handle. There are recessed hand
holds running the length of the deck. The cockpit is large with seats
long enough for a 6 footer to stretch out for a nap with very large
lockers beneath. The cockpit can be converted to an outdoor saloon for
en
tertaining at anchor with a table fitted over the winch. All hardware is
Harken and oversized. All rigging is lead back to the cockpit so sail
trimming and fair lead changes can be made easily and safely. A large
racing type steering wheel coupled with a semi balanced spade rudder
make steering a smooth, effortless task, done with two fingers. The
transom has a double function, at sea it is in the closed position,
inclined as on a Nordic racer. At anchor, the transom swivels open to
reveal teak steps down to the waterline and a SS ladder that extends
into the water for easy transfer to dingies, swimming or just stepping
off onto a Mediterranean dock. This is a very strong boat, it has Kevlar
throughout the hull, not just reinforced areas that lesser boats have.
The chain plates and grid system that they are tied into are massive
structures.
The boat comes with many extras and spares too numerous to list here and
is seriously for sale by it's first and only owner. Delivery anywhere in
the world can be arranged. Price, $289,000, half of the replacement
cost.
