502 bored to 522 inch displacement (100 thousandths over 502). Engine
and Berkley pump rebuilt May 2006. The GM heads have extensive porting
and polishing including match porting the Team G high rise intake. The
crank is a steel cross drilled standard (standard meaning not cut) large
rods and I had to cut the mains 10 with the thrust being cut 10 as well.
The pistons are 10.5:1 Keith Blacks. It has a full roller solid lifter
custom grind Howard cam. The lift is Crazy! 786 inches of lift!!!!! Full
roller rockers and produces 650 HP. Not bad for an aspirated Premium
unleaded boat motor. The carb is a little small but it was all I had to
work with. It is a 850 cfm Holly Double pumper and I increased the
squirters and bumped the jets to 86 on the mains and 85 on the
secondaries.
The Berkley pump was totally rebuilt same time as engine. Nothing but
the best parts including upgrading to a brass impeller from an aluminum
and had a A/B cut rather than a A cut. The impeller ROCKS!!! Huge
improvement over an aluminum impeller. Hammers out of the hole and pulls
more RPMs where cam/engine wants to be. The jet is now a hybrid
Berkley/Dominator with a hydraulic place diverter. All the pump work was
done by Dan Nelson @ Jett Performance Marine. The boat ran 81 MPH down
river with a current of 3-4 mph. This was all done with GPS. This
calculation was just me in the boat with tanks and no ski gear. I
ran 78 with 3 people and full tanks with moderate trim down river as
well. Everybody claims an 80 mph boat until we blow them away read bad
at mid 70s!!!!!! The boat looks great and Runs better! There is a huge
sound system, Huge Amp and a Rockford pre amp, Pioneer cd player and
2-12 Subs and some high end speakers/tweeters throughout. Tweed interior
is awesome. Ill never want to have vinyl again! Dual batteries with a
perko switch. Killer boat. Ive put nearly 25 hours on it since the
complete overhaul and Im losing a lot but that my problem. This is an
excellent boat!!! |
