For Sale: 1988 Mako 220. Good condition, $8,000.00. This is a 22
cuddy-cabin, in good condition, and built to last. The deep-V hull and
generous bow flair make this boat equally at home on lake, Gulf, or
ocean water. The twin 1993 Johnson 120 HP engines and SS props give a
cruising speed of 30 kts, and the 100 gal fuel tank provides a range of
150 nm. The hydraulic trim tabs allow trimming for optimum performance.
The boat has a live-well with circulating pump and aerators, raw water
wash-down pump and hose, dual bilge pumps w/ float switches. There are
(3) rod holders in the cockpit, and (6) in the lockable cabin. There are
(2) tackle storage drawers under the passenger seat. The seats are Todd
swivel w/ padded back and armrests. The captains seat has folding
footrest, passenger seat has grab handle. The cockpit has dual
lazerettes for storage, a Todd bench seat with cooler, and (2) strap-in
Igloo coolers. Storage below is (3) molded in compartments beneath the
V-berth, a small vertical locker, and the anchor rode locker. There is a
port-a-pottie in the cabin. The 3-bank battery system has (2) 650A
starting batteries, a house bank of (2) Group 24 batteries in parallel,
a battery combiner for charging from the engines, and a Charging Systems
International 3-bank, 10A per bank, ignition sealed battery charger with
external 120VAC male receptacle for easy connection to an extension
cord. The VHF radio is a Standard / Horizon w/ RAM mic in the cockpit
and Shakespeare 8 fiberglass antenna. The anchor is a Fortress FX-11
with 6 SS chain and 300 of 5/8 braided rode. The Bimini top is
matching brown canvas. The Garelick dive ladder is 3-step, floating,
removable, with storage brackets in the cockpit. There are (2) spare
Piranha composite prop hubs, and (12) replaceable blades, with prop
wrench. Engine service manual, (15) lifejackets (asstd sizes), (3) Type
IV throwables, flare kit, (2) fire extinguishers, manual bilge pump,

I bought the boat in Mobile, AL, so I know it lived in the salt water
then, and I have taken it to saltwater several times for a couple of
weeks each time, but it has been in Lake Lanier for most of the 10 yrs I
have owned it.
I also do not know the exact weight, but similar, more modern boats
weigh in the 3500 - 4000 pound range, dry, without engines. NADA lists
the weight as 2500, but I do not believe that is correct. I would guess
the Mako 220 weighs a bit more than the modern boats, due to thick
fiberglass construction. Add 600 for the engines, another 600 for the
fuel, plus whatever gear is on board, and I guess the gross weight would
be somewhere in the sub-6000 pound range. With the trailer weighing
probably less than 1000 pounds, the whole rig is safely in the 7500
pound tow limit for many vehicles. Some additional info:
The tank holds about 100 gal usable. At cruise, about 4300 rpm and 30
kts, the burn is right at 20 gal per hour, giving a max range of 150 nm.
I measured this repeatedly in preparation for a Bahamas trip that never
happened. I never did any calculations on idle / no wake speed, trolling
speed, or WOT.
You can see the boat at 326 Lakeview Dr., Dahlonega, GA. This is toward
the end of Lakeview Dr, off of Lumpkin County Parkway, off of GA 400.
You can drive by whenever you like, but please email or call Richard at
404-889-7961 to make an appointment to see in the cabin, run the
engines, check out the accessories, etc |
